Weary? Can't get it right? ...

... struggling to make life work? That's the subtitle to this book I've been reading.
And oh how this book resonates with my spirit. Crabb nails it! He writes about the Old Way vs. the New Way and finding the "red dot" (where you are in relation to the 2 ways).
Here's some of what I read this week ...
"Choosing the New Way is costly. Remember the proud Pharisee who came into the temple and prayed ... in other words, I got it right. Now bless me! Notice the difference between the proud Pharisee and the humble tax collector. Neither had any right to claim God's blessings. One knew it. The other didn't. The Pharisee still believed in the modified Law of Linearity: If we get the law mostly right, then everything we do will prosper. The tax collector pinned all his hopes on the Law of Liberty - come as you are, undeserving, broken, desperate, and trust God will come near to you rather than banish you from His presence - which is all you deserve."

"If you accept tension, knowing mystery is the opportunity to trust rather than plan, if you face whatever you see with integrity because you value authenticity, and if brokenness over weakness and sin is more important to you than vulnerability about the wounds others have inflicted on you, then you have found the red dot. What you've discovered in yourself creates a momentum - it's a miracle of the Spirit - to move toward God."
